Enhanced Compare Experience

We've made several improvements to the Compare workflow to create a more streamlined and intuitive experience from start to finish.

Finding the right profiles is now faster and more flexible. Users can search for profiles, folders, and organizations directly within the Compare flow, making it easier to locate the content they need. We've also introduced new sorting options and improved how folders and profiles are organized, creating a cleaner and more consistent browsing experience.

Smarter Feedback Review

We've introduced several new tools to make reviewing feedback more efficient and insightful. A new High Variance View helps users quickly identify skills with the greatest differences in reviewer feedback, while new sorting options provide more flexibility in how feedback results are organized and displayed.

We've also added indicators that identify when a skill is associated with a Target Job, providing additional context as users evaluate feedback.

Expanded Curriculum Surveys

Curriculum Profile Surveys now allow reviewers to evaluate all Target Jobs associated with a Curriculum Profile, providing a more complete view of how curriculum aligns with workforce needs.

This release introduces a more guided Compare experience, enhancements to the Feedback workflow, and updates to the signed-in Home experience.

Compare Improvements:

We've added a new progress indicator to the Compare flow that guides users through each step of the comparison process, making it easier to understand where you are and what comes next as you compare profiles.

Feedback Enhancements:

We've introduced several improvements to make reviewing feedback more flexible and efficient. 

• The Feedback tab now includes a new view that allows users to switch between skill sets and a flat list of skills, giving users more control over how feedback is displayed.
• We've also streamlined filtering by combining the reviewer type and rating filters into a single dropdown. 
• A new High Variance Only option makes it easier to identify skills with the greatest differences in reviewer feedback, while improvements to the high variance indicator ensure it only appears when the required reviewer threshold has been met.

Home & Navigation Updates:

• Enhanced Signed-In Home Experience: The signed-in Home page has a new look including a new organization switcher dropdown, making it easier to move between organizations. 
• Improved Profile Navigation: Member information and profile counts have been moved to the Profiles page, and a new Browse Library module was added to make it easier to discover and navigate available profiles right from the Home page.

Survey Improvements

Curriculum Profile Surveys now include associated Target Jobs, providing additional context during the review process. Common skill ratings are also carried over into Curriculum Surveys to create a more seamless and informed evaluation experience.

This release enhances the Target Jobs module and Insights tab experiences with updated designs, richer workforce data, and improved job alignment insights. We’ve also refreshed Compare results pages to provide a more consistent and informative alignment experience.

Target Jobs Improvements:

The Target Jobs module was redesigned with updated layouts and visuals with direct links to related Compare reports.

Profile Insights Updates:

The Insights tab now includes a Work Activities module, providing additional context around the activities associated with a role. The Labor Market Data module also incorporates data from related occupations, helping surface additional workforce insights and job opportunities. Several Insights modules have also been refreshed with updated layouts and icons for a more consistent experience.

Compare Enhancements:

Compare results pages have been refreshed with updated banners, headers, report layouts, and navigation improvements. These updates provide clearer context and a more consistent experience across alignment reports.

This release improves the Compare and Feedback experiences with updated curriculum alignment report visuals and more accurate reporting calculations. We’ve also refined Insights components and resolved several issues affecting dashboard and feedback accuracy to provide a smoother and more reliable experience across the platform.

Compare Enhancements:

Compare results pages for curriculum profiles being compared against other curriculum or credential profiles now include an updated banner, header, and report sections that adapt based on the specific comparison flow. This update provides clearer context and a more consistent experience across alignment reports.

Insights & Feedback Updates:

The Skill Type Breakdown section in the Insights tab was updated to align with the latest designs for a more consistent and readable experience. We’ve also added quick access buttons at the top of the page to guide users to the Compare tool and improve navigation.

Bug Fixes & Reliability Improvements:

• Fixed an issue where Feedback tabs could sometimes display extra skills within skill set accordions
• Fixed inaccuracies in the Organization Dashboard’s Active Feedback Sessions count
• Improved overall stability across feedback and comparison workflows

This release introduces new alignment report experiences in Compare and improves accuracy across reporting and feedback features. These updates make it easier to understand alignment and gain more reliable insights across your comparisons.

System Improvements:

Enhanced Skill Gap Analysis Capabilities: We’ve improved our underlying comparison systems. The SkillsEngine team can now more rapidly support doing gap analyses for enterprise clients.

Improved Comparison Processing: Enhancements to the comparison engine now support more advanced analysis, including multi-step comparisons between jobs and curricula, resulting in more accurate and flexible reporting.

This release introduces a new employer onboarding experience, expands Compare to include profiles created by other organizations, and improves tool and technology skills visibility across the platform. We’ve also added a new Job profile type and made structural updates to improve onboarding and comparison workflows across the application.

Compare Enhancements:

You can now compare your profiles against public profiles created by other users across SkillsEngine.

• Any public profiles—those created within free accounts or from paid subscribers who have opted in—can be selected from the Organization tab in a Comparison.
• These profiles also now appear on the Target Jobs tab, allowing you to compare your curriculum against the skill profiles of real employer jobs.
• We have also streamlined how comparison reports are generated and accessed from different sections of the platform for a more consistent experience.

Simplified Employer Onboarding Experience:

We now offer a new, streamlined employer onboarding experience with our Instant Account Setup tool.

This feature allows employers to quickly begin engaging with the platform before they even log in or create an account. Employers simply upload their job descriptions, and our team will automatically create their organization's account, complete with pre-populated skill profiles generated for each of their roles.

Organization Types:

We are introducing Organization Type, a new feature that allows us to begin offering a more customized experience across the platform.

• All organizations now have an assigned type: employer, educator, industry group, or individual. This designation can be managed on the Organization Details page.
• All free accounts are automatically designated as individual accounts, a designation that cannot be changed at this time.
• Existing team or enterprise organizations have been assigned the closest corresponding type based on known details. To review and change the selected designation for your account, visit the Details page from your organization dashboard.

New Job Profile Type:

We’ve updated how user-created job-related profiles work in SkillsEngine, replacing the previous "Occupation" type with a more focused "Job" profile type. 

Key Changes:

• Job Profiles: Now represent specific, role-based positions, providing a better alignment with real-world workflows. This is the profile type users will create going forward for all job-related (non-curriculum) profiles.
• Occupation Profiles: Now solely represent broad job families and are only accessible as templates within the SkillsEngine library.

Impact of this Update:

• All existing user-created profiles previously labeled as "Occupation" have been automatically converted to the new "Job" profile type.

Tool/Tech Skill Improvements:

Tool/Tech skills are now searchable in the skill set edit page and display properly in skill groupings across the platform.

This guide will walk you through how to access and use the Target Jobs Tab to understand how well your curriculum or credential aligns with the real jobs your learners are pursuing.

Accessing the Target Jobs Tab

To access the Target Jobs Tab, navigate to any of your curriculum or credential profiles via the Profiles dashboard. Once inside an eligible profile, select the Target Jobs tab from the top navigation bar.

Understanding the Target Jobs Tab

The Target Jobs Tab provides a clear view of how your profile aligns with the occupations your learners are targeting. It includes two main modules designed to help you quickly understand alignment and explore relevant job options.

Target Jobs Module

This section displays the primary occupation you have selected as the target job for the profile. It includes:

• Percent Match: The proportion of skills in your profile that align with the target job.

• Missing Skills: A quick overview of skills the target job requires that your profile does not currently cover.

• View Full Compare Report: A direct link that takes you to a detailed side-by-side comparison between your profile and the target occupation.

This allows you to quickly assess how well your curriculum prepares learners for a specific job and identify areas for improvement.

Related Jobs and Related Occupations Module

Below the Target Job Module, you’ll find a list of additional job and occupational profiles that are closely related to the profile. These jobs and occupations are identified based on similarity in skill and task requirements.

These modules help you:

• Discover other relevant jobs and occupations learners may qualify for

• Explore alternative pathways

• Understand broader skill alignment across occupations

Viewing Top Target Occupations in Insights

Once target jobs are selected for a curriculum or credential profile, they will appear in the Insights Tab as well. The Insights Tab displays the top five target occupations for the profile, making it easier for all viewers—including faculty, curriculum designers, and partners—to see the intended job outcomes at a glance.

We’ve updated the proficiency scale labels used in feedback sessions to make expectations clearer and more intuitive for reviewers.

The previous proficiency levels were replaced with the following labels:

• No Proficiency Needed
• Basic
• Intermediate
• Advanced

This change is intended to better reflect how skills are evaluated in real-world contexts and to reduce ambiguity when reviewers are assessing proficiency levels.

The update applies anywhere proficiency-based feedback is collected.

Additional backend updates were released alongside this update to improve overall platform performance.

Related Profiles Improvements

Related profile matching is now more accurate and relevant, helping you find stronger connections between similar profiles based on the skills contained in each.

Discover how to compare two or more skill profiles efficiently using the Compare Profiles feature. This document will guide you through accessing and utilizing this functionality to analyze how different profiles align, identify skill gaps, and explore opportunities for improvement.

Accessing the Compare Profiles Page

There are two ways to start a comparison.
Option 1: From the Navigation Bar
Step 1: From any page in the platform, locate the "+ New" button in the navigation bar.
Step 2: A dropdown menu will appear. Select "Compare Profiles."

Option 2: From a Profile's Insights Tab
You can also begin a comparison directly from a profile's Insights tab.
Step 1: Open any profile and select the Insights tab.
Step 2: At the top of the tab, locate the Compare Profiles module and click Compare Profiles.

The selected profile will automatically become your primary profile, allowing you to continue through the comparison workflow with ease.

Selecting Profiles for Comparison

The Compare Profiles workflow uses a step-by-step guided process to help you select profiles and review your results. Throughout the workflow, a progress indicator at the top of the page shows your current step and what comes next.

Depending on the types of profiles you select, the platform will automatically guide you through the appropriate comparison workflow.

Step 1: Select a Primary Profile
On the first page, you’ll be prompted to select your primary profile.

You can choose from:

• Profiles created within your organizations
• Profiles available in the Organizations tab that includes public profiles shared across the SkillsEngine platform
• A newly generated profile using the Generate Skills tool by a simple text or uploading a document- such as a resume, job post, or course description- to automatically convert it into a profile.

If you create a new profile during this step, you will have the option to save the profile to your account or use it only for the comparison.

Step 2: Select Secondary Profiles

After selecting your primary profile, you'll be prompted to choose a secondary profile for comparison.

Secondary profiles can come from:

• Your organizations
• Public profiles available under the Organizations tab
• A newly generated profile using the Generate Skills tool

After selecting a secondary profile, click Next to continue to the Compare Results page.

If you'd like to compare your primary profile against additional profiles, click the Add Another Secondary Profile button at the bottom of the Compare Results page. This allows you to add another secondary profile while keeping your original primary and secondary profiles selected.

Review Comparison Results

The Compare Results page displays each comparison you’ve created.

Each comparison includes a preview of the compare report, allowing you to quickly see the overall results before opening the full report.

For each comparison, you’ll see an Alignment overview showing the percentage of skills shared between the primary and secondary profiles. An alignment badge indicates the overall level of alignment between the two profiles. Click Open on any comparison to view the full compare report.

Within the compare report, you’ll find a Skill Gap Analysis featuring a visual chart that breaks down:

• Shared skills between both profiles
• Skills unique to the primary profile
• Skills unique to the secondary profile

For Curriculum-to-Occupation and Credential-to-Occupation comparisons, an additional Analyze the Skill Gap module will appear.

This section highlights the skills present in the occupation but missing from the curriculum or credential profiles, helping educators and program designers identify opportunities to better align learning outcomes with workforce needs.

Following the analysis, you will see the Comparison Summary and Suggestions for Next Steps.

These sections highlight key takeaways from the comparison and provide guidance on how to act on the results, such as strengthening specific skill areas or improving alignment with a target occupation.

Downloading Your Comparison Data

If needed, you can export the comparison data for further review or sharing.

Simply click the Export button at the top of the compare report to download the full data set as a CSV file onto your computer.

In addition, download buttons are available throughout the report, allowing you to export specific sections—such as shared skills, unique skills, or all skills—individually as CSV files.

*NOTE: The Compare feature is actively evolving. We welcome your feedback as we continue improving the experience and expanding comparison capabilities across the platform.

Managing profiles in your organization allows you to keep your dashboard organized, share profiles efficiently, and ensure the right permissions are in place. This guide will walk you through how to organize and delete profiles within your organization dashboard.

Organizing Profiles and Folders

Accessing Your Profiles

From your Organization Dashboard, navigate to the Profiles section. This is where all of your organization’s profiles live. You can organize these profiles into folders to keep them structured — for example, by department, role, or project.

Creating a Folder

Step 1: In the Profiles section, click the + New button

Step 2: Select New Folder from the dropdown

Step 3: Enter a name for your folder and click Create

Your new folder will now appear in the Profiles section.

Moving Profiles Between Folders

You can move single or multiple profiles into folders at any time.

To move profiles into a folder:

Step 1: Select one or more profiles using the checkboxes next to their titles

Step 2: Click the -> Move button

Step 3: Choose the desired destination folder

To move profiles out of a folder, select the profiles and choose Move.

Bulk Deleting Profiles

If you need to remove several profiles at once, you can use the bulk delete option.

Step 1: From the Profiles page, use the checkboxes to select the profiles you want to delete.

Step 2: Click the Trash Can icon at the top of the page.

Step 3: Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Important: Once you delete profiles, the action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Understanding Permissions

Profile permissions determine what level of access each user has to the profiles within your organization.

• Editor - Have access to view and edit the profiles
• Collaborator – Can view and edit their own profiles and view any profiles in their organization
• Viewer – Typically have view-only access to shared profiles

Permissions for individual profiles can be adjusted through the Manage Permissions section of a profile accessed with the 3 dot menu top right of the profiles page.

Welcome to our mini apps guide. Our platform offers several convenient mini apps designed to assist you in various professional activities, including generating job posts, preparing for interviews, and planning career paths.

In this guide, we'll walk you through accessing and using our four main mini apps: Job Post Generator, Interview Assistant, and Career Map Generator.

Using the Mini Apps

You can access the mini apps through the side menu on our platform. Simply navigate to the bottom of the menu where you’ll see a list of our available tools. Click on any mini app to open in a new tab and start using it.

Each app is designed with a simple, user-friendly interface. Once you enter the required details, the app will generate customized results based on your input. You can review, modify, and save or copy the generated content for further use.

Job Post Generator

The Job Post Generator helps you create skill-based job postings quickly and efficiently. Follow these steps:

1. Access the Job Post Generator: Navigate to the Mini Apps section from the side menu and select ‘Job Post Generator’.

2. Enter Job Details: Input the desired  job title, a description of the position, and any additional details such as company name or job location.

3. Generate and Review: The app will create a job post that includes the job description, key skills, duties, responsibilities, and required experience. Review and refine as needed.

4. Copy or Create Profile: Once satisfied, you can copy the job post or use it to create a new custom profile. 

Interview Assistant

The Interview Assistant allows you to quickly generate custom interview questions for any job role.

1. Enter Job Details: Provide a job title and a brief description of the company or type of work.

2. Generate Questions: Click "Generate", and the tool will instantly provide 10 interview questions based on the job title and description, leveraging SkillsEngine x OpenAI GPT technology.

3. Review & Use: Once generated, you can copy the questions to your clipboard, save them for future reference, or use them to create a job profile for further refinement.

Career Map Generator

The Career Map Generator is a tool designed to help visualize career progressions. Follow these steps:

1. Access the Career Map Generator: Select 'Career Map Generator' from the Mini Apps section.

2. Input Career Goals: Start by entering a job title as the starting point and another as the target job. You can also add educational steps if needed.

3. Generate Career Map: Click 'Generate' to create a visual map of career progression from the starting job title to the target job. Review the results and adjust as needed.

Disclaimer: This is an experimental application using OpenAI's GPT-4o. We recommend reviewing all outputs.

4. Save the Map: You have the option to save the generated career map as an image for future reference or share it with others.

Accessing the Insights Tab

To access the Insights Tab on a profile, navigate to any of your profiles via the Profiles dashboard.

Understanding the Insights Tab

The Insights Tab provides several high-level insights about your profile.

Compare: The Compare module provides quick access to the Compare workflow directly from your profile.

Using the “Compare to other jobs” or “Compare to other credentials”, you can begin a comparison with the current profile automatically selected as your starting point. Depending on the profiles you compare, you’ll be guided through the appropriate comparison workflow, such as Workforce Alignment or Curriculum Alignment.

Skill Type Breakdown: An overview of your profile composition by skill type.

Work Activity Summary: An AI generated summary highlighting the primary work activities represented in your profile. This overview helps you quickly understand the types of work your profile best supports.

Top Soft Skills: A visual list and bubble chart highlighting the most prominent soft skills within your profile, making it easy to identify the interpersonal and professional competencies most strongly represented.

Top Target Jobs (Curriculum and Credential Profiles): For curriculum and credential profiles, the Top Target Jobs module highlights occupations that best align with the skills in the profile.

Once a target job is added in the Target Jobs tab, this section will display the top matching jobs along with the percentage match between the target job and the curriculum or credential profile.

This helps educators and program designers quickly evaluate how well a curriculum or credential prepares learners for specific jobs and occupations.

Skill Set Summary (Job and Individual Profiles): AI-generated overview of the top 5 skill sets in the profile with brief summaries of each.

Labor Market Data: Average salaries for occupations related to or most relevant to the profile based on the profile's title and description.

NOTE: The insight is sourced from the federal database of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Related Profiles: A list of SkillsEngine profile templates representing related jobs based on the title and description of your profile.

Downloading Your Insights Report

To download or print the insights report:

Step 1: On the top of the Insights page, locate and click the 'Download' button.

Step 2: Click "Print Insights Report" and follow your system's standard process to print the report or save it as a PDF.
